“Bad factual reporting” is generally not something that is contracted through the air, the shaking of hands, or simply spending time with someone. So it was a little surprising to see that Ed Werder, who spends, one would presume, lots of time with Chris Mortensen, stone cold whiffed on the Dallas Cowboys’ injury report, according to True Blue Fan Club’s Josh Ellis (via PFT).
Contrary to a national report this morning about the playing status of DeMarcus Ware, the fourth-year Cowboys linebacker and NFL sacks leader is still expected to play in today’s 3:15 p.m. (CST) game at Pittsburgh’s Heinz Field.
Ware was listed as probably on Friday. He told a member of the Cowboys PR staff this morning that nothing had changed since then.
And yes, that national report was Werder, which is odd, because usually Ed is pretty on-point regarding the Cowboys, even if he’s like the Pedro Gomez of Dallas (the one guy that ESPN stations there who’s not that personable but gets all the scoops on a major story and/or team that the WWL likes to beat into our collective sports-watching brains).
On the bright side, he’s still splitting screens with Scoop, so he’s got at least 42,000 more whiffs allowed before people really start to question whether he knows anything or not.
