It wasn’t as dominating as the Steelers Opening Day win against the Browns last year, but the results were still the same. For the 10th straight time, Pittsburgh beat the Browns, and in the process, put itself in a commanding position in the AFC North race.
Last year the Browns bounced back from the early-September Steelers’ slaughter to push Pittsburgh for the division title. But in the end, it was the Browns’ pair of losses to Pittsburgh that gave the Steelers the division title. So Pittsburgh moved on to the playoffs while the Browns stayed home.
A year later, the Browns find themselves two games behind the Steelers and down a head-to-head match-up just two games into the season. If Pittsburgh plays .500 football the rest of the way, the Browns will have to figure out a way to go 9-5 against a schedule that still includes the Giants, Bills, Broncos, Jaguars, Colts and Eagles. And they would have to beat the Steelers in the season finale to avoid the same 0-2 head-to-head record that sunk them last year.Continue Reading
