Before he’s done tailback/returner Mewelde Moore may help the Steelers win several games, but in his first game as a Steeler, it appears that he could be blamed for Charlie Batch’s broken collarbone.
The Steelers backup quarterback turned to handoff to Moore in the second quarter, only to find Moore headed into the other direction. It’s possible that Batch botched the play, but considering he’s been running the Steelers playbook for years, while Moore has been learning the playbook for a couple of months, it’s more likely that Moore botched the play.
Batch tried to turn and run the ball himself, but in the process he took a couple of shots. He actually stayed in the game for one more play before being pulled and replaced by third stringer Dennis Dixon.
