Big Ben sits out practice again
? Quarterback Ben Roethlisbeger missed practice for the second consecutive day, as he recovers from a concussion he suffered against Cleveland. Roethlisberger was one of several players to miss Wednesday's practice, along with outside linebacker James Harrison and safety Ryan Clark, who didn't play against the Browns because of injury. Harrison and Clark did some running during practice. Running backs Willie Parker and Carey Davis and receiver Hines Ward also sat out practice.

? Roethlisberger, who normally speaks with reporters on Wednesday, declined to comment. "He'll be fine, and if he's not we won't play him," offensive coordinator Bruce Arians said. "We're going to run what we run and be who we are, but he'll be fine." On Roethlisbeger missing practice, Arians replied, "He wouldn't have gotten any reps anyway. Byron (Leftwich) needed the reps. Dennis (Dixon) needs the reps."

? The Steelers finished 10-2 against AFC opponents, which tied for the best record in the NFL with Indianapolis. The last time the Steelers finished with a better conference record was an 11-1 mark in 2004.

? Second-year linebacker Lawrence Timmons led the Steelers with eight tackles against Cleveland. Timmons finished the regular season with 71 tackles and was fourth on the team with five sacks.

Digits
