
Steelers outside linebacker James Harrison has been named the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year.
Harrison set a Steelers single-season record with 16 sacks. The fifth-year veteran also finished with 100 tackles, seven forced fumbles and 10 quarterback hurries. Harrison, who did not play in the Steelers' regular-season finale because of a hip pointer, got named to his second consecutive Pro Bowler earlier this season and was by Steelers' MVP by his teammates.
Dallas outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware finished second to Harrison in Defensive Player of the Year balloting. Harrison got 22 first-place votes.
