The NFL will conduct hearings today and Tuesday for the bulk of eight pending cases of players who tested for banned supplements under the league's steroid and performance-enhancement policy, according to sources, ESPN.com reported.

Most of those players face an uphill battle with four-game suspensions looming that could affect the league's divisional races.

Those cases include Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl defensive tackles Kevin Williams and Pat Williams; the New Orleans Saints' Deuce McAllister, Will Smith and Charles Grant; and the Atlanta Falcons' Grady Jackson.

If they are denied their appeal, the players will be suspended for four games. After their hearings, both sides will file briefs and a decision is expected within the next 10 to 14 days.

Record-setting kick

Matt Stover of the Baltimore Ravens set an NFL record, kicking his 372nd consecutive point after touchdown.

The kick broke the record Stover shared with Jason Elam (1993-2002) and Jeff Wilkins (1999-2007).

Stover started his streak in 1996.

Rookie versatility

Spencer Larsen made history in his first NFL start.

Larsen, a rookie, became the first Denver player to start on offense and defense in the same game when he opened Sunday's matchup against Atlanta as the team's middle linebacker and fullback. He also opened the game on special teams, too.

Larsen's role as a two-way starter on offense and defense was kept as a secret by the Broncos this week.

Errant call

The first 11-10 game in NFL history shouldn't have ended that way, referee Scott Green said after a last-minute touchdown was errantly taken away from the Pittsburgh Steelers. The officiating mistake didn't affect the outcome since the Steelers still would have won.
